Many of us try to shed a few pounds before we hit bikini season. Just the thought of squeezing into your bather or shorts send chills through your spine. Did you know that if you are too toxic to lose weight, all this effort will not give you the results that it could have otherwise?
Your body might be in survival mode
To understand proper detox, we need to look at how your body detoxifies. Your liver takes most of the strain and is your principle organ to rid the body of toxins. The liver wasn’t made to have to deal with the man-made products we are putting in our bodies (or on top!). This includes caffeine, sugar, refined carbohydrates, gluten, soy, and dairy. These are also the culprits that are usually responsible for intolerances.
An overtaxed liver can cause you to become too toxic and then you will store fat and feel tired. The same goes for people who are sick all the time. An overtaxed liver means that every other system will take strain. This creates a reduction in nutrient absorption and fluid retention to help neutralize your pH.
A short detox program might also have the opposite effect. The liver, kidneys, and colon need at least 14 days to have a proper cleanse. A short fast is also not the way to go as your body will kick into survival mode. It also creates extra stress for your organs.
The safer choice for detox is to slowly remove the above-mentioned substances from your diet. If your liver doesn’t need to deal with allergens and synthetic chemicals, it can focus on its actual job. This is to convert fat-soluble nutrients to water-soluble nutrients and send what is not needed for excretion. Fat is also a magnet for toxins. So, if you are overweight, you can be sure that your organs are working a lot harder than what they are supposed to.
Are you too toxic to lose weight?
Fat is also a magnet for toxins. So, if you are overweight, you can be sure that your organs are working a lot harder than what they are supposed to. Cellulite is a great “diagnostic tool” to tell you how you are really doing on the inside. If you need to pinch your thighs hard to see any telltale dimples, chances are you are not too bad. Visible cellulite when standing is the highest grade. So if that’s you, it’s time to start doing something real about it. Not just to be able to have smooth thighs, but to assist your organs to function well.
Then, this being said, what shall we do?
- Drink 8 glasses of pure water per day. This gives a “vehicle” for toxins to leave your body via excretion and assists to neutralize an acidic pH
- Lymphatic drainage – Although this is not your most important system to detox your body, it does help to rid the body of excess fluid.
- Try your hand at Cupping Massage – Mechanical massage is a sure-fire way to get your blood surging. Better blood circulation means more oxygen and nutrients to cells. This action will help the repair process.
- Be gentle – Cut out one of the mentioned food groups out per week. Going cold turkey to lose weight is not going to benefit you here. To ensure that you are doing the remove and replace method. For every allergen or synthetic substance you do away with, replace it with a good substitute. Almonds, kefir, avocado, cucumber, and carrots are good choices.
